As today is Christmas Eve, I decided not to actually blog about my own personal thoughts but rather; print the lyrics to (what I think is) one of the most beautiful and thought evoking Christmas songs of modern times. I love this simple carol with its message of never-ending hope for humanity.
Rejoice one and all! God is not dead nor does he sleep. Indeed he loves us so, that he has sent us his only begotten son, who died for our sins so that we may enter the kingdom of Heaven. How blessed are we?
I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with blissful peace.
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, their old familiar carols play.
And wild and sweet the words repeat… of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought how, as the day had come, the belfries of all Christendom,
Had rolled along the unbroken song… of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair I bowed my head. “There is no peace on earth,” I said.
“For hate is strong and mocks the song… of peace on earth, good will to men.”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep. “God is not dead, nor doth he sleep.
The wrong shall fail; the right prevail, with peace on earth, good will to men.”
God bless us… everyone!
Until next time,
Don
